The Weekly Pull

“Community isn’t built by chance, it’s built by showing up, again and again.”

I have to brag on the cycling community once again. Surprised?

Sunday’s Pull the Line Ride with Pull Through Coffee Bar was everything I love about what we’re building. Twenty-six incredible ladies showed up to ride, the weather showed off with nearly 70 degrees and sunshine, and afterward most of us lingered, coffee in hand, connecting, laughing, and sharing life.

I also did something that felt big for me.

I made a vow to myself and to my brand that I would finally pull out my merchandise and sell. I loaded up my signature hats, necklaces, cups, and bike chain keychains. And almost immediately… I made multiple sales.

Here’s the honest part: I am not a salesperson. Selling makes me uncomfortable, and I’ve spent a lot of time trying to understand why. There’s probably something deeply psychological there, but at the end of the day, I know this and need to get over it. I’m claiming this as my year to move past that fear and let the Pull the Line brand shine.

Because this brand? It’s not really about products. It’s a reflection of these women who are moving their bodies, setting goals, showing up for themselves, and inspiring others just by being exactly who they are.

One of my favorite moments happened during coffee conversations. I was chatting with a first-timer to our group and shared my struggle with selling my brand. She listened and then offered simple, thoughtful tips on how to share what I do without feeling like I’m “selling” at all. The right person, the right time. Her ideas made sense and for the first time, I felt excited to try a new approach.

And that’s exactly why I keep bragging on this community.

That conversation wasn’t the only one happening. All around me, women were pouring into each other, encouraging, listening, relating. On and off the bike, we’re choosing to do life together. And life really is better in community.

So here’s my encouragement to you: look around. Notice who might need something like this. Invite them to a ride. Invite them for coffee afterward. They wouldn’t be the first person to buy a bike or show up a little nervous, just to belong to something bigger than themselves.

Don’t be afraid to reach out and try. It might be a hard no. But if it’s a yes, it could be the start of a beautiful new beginning filled with connection, purpose, and movement.

Let’s keep pulling the line at work and at play and see where it leads us next.
