The Weekly Pull

“The world has a way of reminding us who we are when we slow down long enough to notice it.”

The beauty of the Northwest Coast has had me completely in awe this week. What a privilege it was for my husband and me to spend time with our son and his wife in beautiful Oregon. And if you’re from Texas, you know how perfectly timed this trip was, escaping the Texas winter-geddon for the more temperate, coastal climate felt nothing short of divine.

Lots of hiking and beach combing replaced cycling this week, and it did not disappoint. The towering trees, the endless ocean, rugged rocks, soft sand, and wild beauty of the Northwest were deeply restorative. It’s the kind of place that doesn’t just impress you, it settles into you and leaves you wanting to return again soon.

My son and his wife moved here last summer and are truly living their best lives. As a parent, I couldn’t be happier to see them in a place that brings them so much joy. Jackson said it best: living there feels like being on vacation every day. Wow. What a wonderful way to live. Most of us can’t live just anywhere, but thanks to remote work, they aren’t tied to big cities or crowded spaces, and yes, I’m a little jealous.

This trip was also a powerful reminder of why moving our bodies matters. Strengthening muscles, staying active, and prioritizing our physical health allows us to continue exploring this beautiful world. If you’re not there yet, or you haven’t found the motivation, I want to encourage you to start small and start now. Set a goal. Maybe it’s a new city, a national park, or even a local trail you’ve never explored.

There are so many reasons to prioritize your health. Not only do you get to do more and see more, but you also experience a richer, higher quality of life. As we wrap up the first month of 2026, let’s continue to encourage one another to keep moving, dreaming, and reaching for the goals that light us up.

So what’s one small step you can take today toward a more active life and your next great adventure?

  1. Wonderful photos! So happy that you and Randal could make the trip even if I am just a little envious. 🙂 We miss seeing Jackson and Bailee so this encourages us to plan a trip out there! It is so nice to know how happy they are living there.
